Atletico Mineiro vs Palmeiras
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 12 May 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Less than three weeks ago, things looked… pitiful at Atlético Mineiro: they had just lost their State championship title to big city rivals Cruzeiro, lost to Nacional at home in Copa Libertadores, they knew they would not be in the last 16 of the competition, it felt things were… falling apart. Fast forward to today, they are the only team to have started the Série A season winning all three games, plus, midweek, they beat Zamora in Venezuela, finishing third in their Libertadores group, a position that comes with a Copa Sudamericana ticket, meaning that Atlético can still do something “good” in a CONMEBOL competition this season. What makes their four wins in a row look even more “wow”, is that the last three were away from home, at Vasco, Ceará, and Zamora. Interestingly, all four were won by the same score 2-1. They are expected to start with Victor, Guga, Réver, Igor Rabello, Fábio Santos, Zé Welison, Elias, Geuvânio, Luan, Chará and Ricardo Oliveira.
Gustavo Scarpa scored for Palmeiras midweek to earn them a 1-0 win over San Lorenzo at home, on the last day of the Copa Libertadores group stage. The Sao Paulo side finished first in their group, and on Tuesday they will find out whom they will face in the round of 16. As for Scarpa, he got injured, and is unavailable this weekend. Luiz Felipe Scolari has two more players unavailable, Ricardo Goulart and Willian, not for the first time; both have already missed a couple of games, and are not expected back any time soon. Last weekend, Palmeiras beat Internacional 1-0 at home, missing glorious chances to score more than once. Scolari is expected to have Weverton, Marcos Rocha, Luan, Gustavo Gómez, Diogo Barbosa, Felipe Melo, Bruno Henrique, Raphael Veiga (or Lucas Lima), Dudu, Zé Rafael (or Felipe Pires) and Deyverson in the starting lineup.

Atletico Mineiro vs Palmeiras: Head to head Stats
Two Atlético wins and three draws in the last five games between these two in Belo Horizonte.
Atletico Mineiro vs Palmeiras: Prediction
Both coaches are going to… mess with their lineups, mostly Atlético’s, because they have a big Copa do Brasil game coming up. All things considered, I expect Palmeiras to win.
Atletico Mineiro vs Palmeiras: Betting Tips
Palmeiras’ win in “draw no bet” is at 1.70. If I took the risk to leave the safety net of “draw no bet” aside, I would go for “Palmeiras and under 3.5 goals”, at 2.95.
