Atletico Paranaense vs Chapecoense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 16 April 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Atlético Paranaense’s win midweek at home over Newell’s Old Boys was at 1.72, that was my first tip, adding a second one, their victory combined with a clean sheet, at 2.37, having seen Newell’s struggle offensively in their last games. Atlético did even better than what I expected, scoring three times, something they had done only once in their previous eight matches, in all competitions (and that was against lowly Maringá). The Curitiba side won 3-0, and are super close to qualifying for the next Copa Sudamericana round. Important detail, they have a Copa do Brasil game coming up, at Sao Paulo. They beat them 2-1 at home in the first leg, a result that has left things wide open. Atlético finished 11th last season in the Série A.
Chapecoense lost the Catarinense championship title last weekend, succumbing 2-0 to Figueirense in a single final. It was their first defeat after 13 official matches. Last time they had lost was at Nacional, in Montevideo, early February. No State championship title for them, no Copa Libertadores group stage (they lost twice to Nacional, home and away) either, so the… atmosphere at the club is not the best possible at the start of this new Série A season. They finished 8th last year, having the best record among all Série A teams (four wins and a draw) in the last five game weeks. On another note, on Wednesday, it was made known that Chape received an invitation from Torino to go visit them in Italy, in July. They have obviously accepted it.

Atletico Paranaense vs Chapecoense: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Atlético and two draws in the last five games between these two in Curitiba. Only one of those five matches had more than two goals.
Atletico Paranaense vs Chapecoense: Prediction
Atlético look much better than Chape at the moment. They won their State championship last weekend, won in Copa Sudamericana midweek, but, that Copa do Brasil return leg they have coming up, makes me hesitant to suggest their win over Chape.
Atletico Paranaense vs Chapecoense: Betting Tips
I’m taking the risk to suggest Chapecoense’s double chance, at 1.85. I feel it’s worth it, keeping in mind that Atlético just played a very demanding game (midweek), and have another important match coming up in a few days.
