Atromitos vs AEL Larissa
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 28 January 2018
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
Is that it for Atromitos? Have they really run out of steam? After earning just one point from two Super League matches, midweek they lost 2-0 at PAOK, in the first leg of their Cup quarterfinal tie, being left now with a mountain to climb. Atromitos remain fourth in the Super League table, and they look like they are… in a league of their own. They can’t compete with the top-3, but they are far better than fifth-placed Panionios and all teams below that. They are desperate for a win to… get back on track, and this game against Larissa may be exactly what they need. A few days ago, Atromitos signed 23-year-old Bruno Felipe, a Brazilian left winger. Austrian club LASK Linz retained his rights, the player signed at Atromitos on loan for 18 months.
AEL Larissa can be called the… craziest Super League team this season. After losing three games in a row (including one in the Cup, which didn’t cost them though), they earned a massive goalless draw against AEK last weekend, and midweek earned a shocking 2-1 victory at PAS Giannina in a Cup quarterfinal, coming from behind not just to avoid defeat, but to win, and earn a huge advantage ahead of the return leg. I have to admit that I am among those who doubted Larissa most of the season, my lack in faith in them has led me to a serious of unsuccessful predictions in matches of theirs, but I also have to admit that Larissa have shown endless guts, performing… small miracles against opponents much better than them, and at stadiums that few expected them to “conquer”.

Atromitos vs AEL Larissa: Head to head Stats
Back in April 2017, the game between these two in Peristeri ended in a goalless draw. Before that, Atromitos hadn’t hosted AEL since 2011 (a 3-0 win of the hosts).
Atromitos vs AEL Larissa: Prediction
Call me… incorrigible, but despite Larissa’s huge results this last week, I don’t expect them to continue shocking everyone. Atromitos are going through a… mini crisis, but they have the players to respond, and especially at home, I do expect them to respond in this match.
Atromitos vs AEL Larissa: Betting Tips
A simple Atromitos win pays 1.55. For more than that, I would combine the hosts’ win with a clean sheet. I expect them to look cautious in the first half, make sure to keep that “0” at the back, and strike at some point during the second half, win the game without… running wild, just win, to get a boost after their three consecutive negative results.
