Atromitos vs Aris
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 9 December 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
If I were Atromitos’ president, I would have given the players a heavy fine after their unacceptable performance last weekend, and their two ridiculously wasted points in the match against Apollon Smyrnis. Apollon had earned one point from their first 11 matches in the Super League, Atromitos have been one of the best teams in the country these last months, but… they played their worst, by far, by far-far-far match this season, getting stuck to a pitiful 1-1 draw. Between the 46th and the 80th minute, if you watched the game and didn’t know who was who, you’d be left with the impression that Apollon were the second-placed team in the table, and Atromitos were the ones struggling to avoid relegation. Things changed spectacularly in the last 10 minutes, 15 including added time, there, yes, Atromitos played like… Atromitos, but the score didn’t change, 1-1, a game that should act as a big lesson to the Peristeri side. Hungarian center-forward Roland Ugrai trained properly these last days, but his presence in the starting lineup was a major doubt 48 hours before kick-off. Atromitos fell third in the table, seven points behind leaders PAOK, and one behind second-placed Olympiakos.
Aris had to settle for a single point last weekend, when they hosted Panathinaikos. They were given two penalties by the referee in the first half, missed the first, converted the second one (that wasn’t really a penalty), lasted 1-0 up until added time, but that’s when they got equalized, another goal that came from the penalty spot. They are 6th in the table, on 19 points, nine of which have been earned away from home (three wins, three defeats). Winger Nicolas Diguiny was almost ruled out of this weekend’s match 48 hours before kick-off, because of a persisting injury problem. Attacking midfielder Nicolás Martínez was doubtful. Center-back Hugo Sosa had to undergo surgery. He’s expected to be back in six weeks.

Atromitos vs Aris: Head to head Stats
Atromitos haven’t hosted Aris since 2013. Back then, they beat them 2-0. A few months earlier (same year), Aris had won 0-1.
Atromitos vs Aris: Prediction
Atromitos just played a horrible game, and Aris have already won three games on the road this season. All things considered, I’m backing the hosts to bounce back, as if proving that last weekend’s ridiculous result was just an exception to the rule.
Atromitos vs Aris: Betting Tips
The hosts’ win pays 2.05, good enough to make me leave my reservations aside.
