Bahia vs Atletico Mineiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 31 July 2018
Kick-off: 01:00 CET
Two great results in a row for Bahia, and… spectacular change of mood. Remember, the players were verbally (and up to some point physically as well) attacked 10 days ago, when they returned to Salvador from Chapecó, where they had drawn 1-1 with Chapecoense. After that, they destroyed Vitória in the city’s big derby (4-1), and midweek they beat Cerro as well, in the Copa Sudamericana, 2-0, to make a big step towards qualifying for the next round. Bahia took perfect advantage of the fact that they had back-to-back games at home, plus, they welcomed back players who were missing due to injury. In a few days, Bahia have a fourth game in a row at home, a Copa do Brasil match against Palmeiras, in the quarterfinals of the competition. Center-back Lucas Fonseca and attacking midfielder Zé Rafael are unavailable, having received their third yellow card of the season against Vitória last weekend. Bahia are on 16 points from 14 matches in the Série A, just above the relegation line.
After back-to-back defeats away from home following the restart of the season after the World Cup finals, Atlético Mineiro bounced back midweek beating Paraná 2-0 at home. Unlike all other teams in the group of those who are leading or following the leaders from a small distance, Atlético Mineiro are left with a single target, do well in the championship. They have already gotten kicked out of the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Sudamericana, so the championship is all they are left with, which could make a big difference. On paper, they should look “fresher” than… Flamengo for example, or Gremio, who have both Copa do Brasil and international matches coming up. Left-back Fábio Santos got injured in the game against Paraná midweek, and is unavailable.

Bahia vs Atletico Mineiro: Head to head Stats
All five games between these two the last seven years in Salvador, have ended in a draw. To find a winner, we need to go back to 2003, when Atlético beat Bahia 4-2. The hosts haven’t beaten Atlético in Salvador since 2002.
Bahia vs Atletico Mineiro: Prediction
Bahia just played a very demanding game, and have another huge match coming up. Atlético should look better, energy-wise, and earn at least a draw, despite being considered outsiders in this match.
Bahia vs Atletico Mineiro: Betting Tips
Atlético’s double chance is at 1.70, my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.25.
