Bahia vs Blooming
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 24 May 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
A 1-0 Blooming win was my hunch before the first leg of this Copa Sudamericana first round tie, and the Bolivian side won 1-0 indeed. That was 40 days ago(!). Ever since then, Bahia have had major ups and downs, but one thing remained pretty much the same; they are a far stronger team at home, rather than away from it. In their last two games alone, they have beaten Vasco da Gama 3-0, and drawn 2-2 to Sao Paulo. They create several chances, and they score, even against teams much stronger than Blooming. Center-back Rodrigo Becão and midfielder Elton are back from injury, both available to play. Edigar Junio though, Bahia’s striker, dealt with some minor(?) injury problem these last days, and seemed doubtful up until 30 hours before kick-off.
Blooming have had 10 whole days to… get in terms with the fact that they got eliminated from Wilstermann in the quarterfinals of Bolivia’s Apertura tournament. They lost both at home and away, conceding a total of six goals. Qualifying for the second round of the Copa Sudamericana will be a consolation, something to – up to some point – save their first half of the season. Hugo Suárez, Cristian Coimbra, Franco Coria, Pablo De Miranda, José Sagredo, Leonardo Vaca, José Vargas, Christian Latorre, Cristián Arano, Joslito Vaca, Hugo Bargas, these are the 11 expected to start the game for Blooming.

Bahia vs Blooming: Head to head Stats
Bahia have never hosted Blooming before.
Bahia vs Blooming: Prediction
Bahia are… a different team at home. They are super motivated to qualify, to show things in an international competition, and to partly redeem themselves for starting the Série A rather poorly. I expect them to win and qualify.
Bahia vs Blooming: Betting Tips
A simple Bahia win pays just 1.20. “Over 2.5 goals” is at 2.00, my main tip. Blooming have had 10 whole days to get ready for this game, but I simply don’t consider them good enough to avoid defeat in Salvador da Bahia, not against a strong – at home – team, backed by thousands and thousands of very passionate fans.
