Bahia vs Botafogo
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 27 August 2017
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Bahia played one of their best games of the season so far to beat Vasco da Gama 3-0 at home last weekend. Preto Casagrande is Bahia’s interim coach, but… as long as the club don’t hire a new coach, he has a chance to prove himself. The fact that the team have back-to-back games at home, suits him just fine. Generally, Bahia have been above average at home, for a team of their stature. Judging by what is being written in local media, the Salvador team, having climbed three positions in the table after that 3-0 over Vasco, have their… appetite opened, and have started talking about playing in the Copa Sudamericana next season, instead of just avoiding getting relegated.
No surprise… After their elimination by Flamengo from the Copa do Brasil, Botafogo fans ‘demanded’ some answers, and in an attempt to diffuse tension, members of the board accepted to meet with a delegation of the fans who had gathered outside the training ground, the day after the elimination. Things would be much more tense if the team were not still alive in the Copa Libertadores. With the Copa do Brasil dream now over, and the team no higher than 10th in the Brasileirao, the Copa Libertadores quarterfinal against Gremio is what keeps… nerves under – relative – control at Botafogo.

Bahia vs Botafogo: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Bahia and two draws in the last five games between these two in Salvador. Only one of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Bahia vs Botafogo: Prediction
Bahia are considered such favorites that their win pays 1.87, not even 2.00, despite the fact that they are hosting a team that made it to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, and are in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. Botafogo did play a very demanding game midweek, and Bahia definitely looked great last weekend, so… even though this 1.87 feels low, I have to agree that they have the upper hand to win this match.
Bahia vs Botafogo: Betting Tips
If 1.87 looks not big enough to you, consider betting on a Bahia win combined with a clean sheet, at 2.90 betting odds. Botafogo have scored just one goal in their last three matches, and that was from the penalty spot.
