Banfield vs Argentinos Juniors
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 2 December 2018
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
Banfield had their Colombian goalkeeper Iván Arboleda as their best player last weekend in Avellaneda, earning a goalless draw at Racing Club. Positive result, no doubt, given that they were playing away from home, against the league leaders (no matter if Racing had several players unavailable, injured). Bad news for Banfield is that vastly experienced attacking midfielder Jesús Dátolo got injured, and may not reappear in 2018. Either way, there are two matches left, this, and the one at Unión Santa Fe, next weekend. On another note, it looks like Julio César Falcioni will no longer be Banfield’s coach once their last two 2018 games are behind them. His contract expires this month, and Banfield are not expected to renew it. They have offered him the chance to stay as a club manager, and according to reports, he is considering it. He has been dealing with a serious health issue for quite some time now. Gaby Milito is the one that Banfield seem to want the most as their next coach.
Nothing, absolutely nothing is going Argentinos Juniors’ way… They have already sacked two coaches this season, and their situation is so bad that they’ve had offers of theirs turned down by other coaches, who prefer waiting for another club to go knocking on their door, rather than take charge at La Paternal. Led by interim coach Raúl Sanzotti last weekend, El Bicho lost yet another game, at home, 0-2, to Talleres Córdoba. It was their sixth defeat in a row(!). They have earned just one point from their last eight matches(!), and scored just one goal in their last nine. Horrible numbers… Obviously they are at the bottom of the Superliga table, on just six points from 12 matches (they have one in hand). For the time being, they are 20th in the promedio table, above the relegation line, but A) if they go on like that, they’ll get in serious-serious trouble, and B) even if they avoid relegation this season, they will be “carrying” this awful year the next two seasons as well, having a… heavy rock pushing them down the “promedio” table.

Banfield vs Argentinos Juniors: Prediction
Banfield would be silly to drop points against a team that seems to be going from one punch on the stomach to another…
Banfield vs Argentinos Juniors: Betting Tips
Banfield’s win pays 1.90, which is actually more than that I expected. Argentinos Juniors have been pathetic offensively (and not only) for weeks now, scoring just one goal in their last nine matches. Banfield’s clean sheet is at 2.00, and combined with Banfield’s win it pays 2.75.
