Barcelona vs Sporting
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 5 December 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Draw in their last two Champions League matches, draw in their last two LaLiga games, Barcelona seem to have… slowed down lately, but at least in the Champions League, it didn’t cause them any problems. They are first in the group, three points ahead of second-placed Juventus, and they will finish there even if they lose this game. It’s impressive though that the Blaugrana had gone for years and years scoring in every single Champions League group stage game, but now have two consecutive goalless draws(!). Last weekend they drew 2-2 at home to Celta. They remain first in LaLiga, but the worst piece of news that came out of that Camp Nou match last weekend was that Samuel Umtiti got injured, and is expected to stay sidelined for almost two months. Blow to Barcelona, since the French defender has been impressive since the start of the season. “Under 2.5 goals” (1.90) and “under 2.5 goals” combined with “no” in “both teams to score” (2.50) were my two tips two weeks ago, when Barcelona visited Juventus, and both came good, as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
A simple Sporting win two weeks ago, when they hosted Olympiakos, was at just 1.53. “Over 2.5 goals” was paying 1.85, and those two combined offered a good 2.37. These were mu suggestions back then, and all came good, as Sporting beat Olympiakos 3-1. The Lisbon team are one point behind Juventus, and in case they finish level on points, they have a disadvantage, as they have lost 2-1 in Italy, and drawn 1-1 at home. To finish second, they need to win, not even a draw at Camp Nou is enough, and not just that; they need Olympiakos to make Juventus drop points in Greece. Sporting’s mission looks super hard, despite the fact that they are facing an already qualified Barcelona. Last Friday they beat Belenenses 1-0 at home, taking perfect advantage of Porto’s 0-0 draw against Benfica. Sporting and Porto are co-leaders in Portugal’s championship, on 33 points each.

Barcelona vs Sporting: Head to head Stats
Barcelona have hosted Sporting twice before. They beat them 1-0 in 1986 (UEFA Cup), and 3-1 in 2008 (Champions League group stage).
Barcelona vs Sporting: Prediction
Barcelona’s win pays just 1.35, they are considered… practically sure winners, but… I have my doubts, because they have already qualified as first in the group, because they are playing without some key players, and also because Sporting are not that bad a team (anything but that). All things considered, I’m leaving winners and losers aside, and I’m betting on goals, expecting at least three, from both sides.
Barcelona vs Sporting: Betting Tips
“Both teams to score” is at 1.75, and is my main tip. Believe it or not, if I had to choose between Barcelona’s win and Sporting’s double chance, I would put my money on the latter, tempted by the 3.20 it pays.
