BATE vs Sarajevo
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 15 August 2019
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
BATE made a huge step towards reaching the Europa League playoffs last week, beating Sarajevo 1-2 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They actually took a 0-2 lead, and conceded late, in the 89th minute. That late goal didn’t chance much, as they still qualify if they lose 0-1, Sarajevo still need to score at least twice. Attempts were 13-13, but the on target ones were 6-1 for BATE, who also had more corners won than Sarajevo. On Sunday they hosted Energetyk-BDU, took a four-goal lead in the first 30 minutes(!), slowed down after that, and ended up winning 4-1. It’s interesting that they have conceded in their last five games at home, Champions League qualifiers, Europa League qualifiers, Belarus championship and Cup combined, but they’ve won four of those matches, and drawn just once, with Piast Gliwice.
“Unrealistic”. This is how Husref Musemic, Sarajevo’s coach, called the result of the first leg, believing that his team deserved not just a draw, but even to win. He did admit that at this level, experience plays a big role, and BATE have much more of that than Sarajevo. Truth is, it was experience (and a good deal of luck, someone could claim), that served BATE in previous qualifying matches this summer, against Piast for example, in games that they were not superior to their rivals, but still earned the result they needed. Musemic also said that three players who were in the starting lineup last week were not at their 100%, but had to start them as he had no real alternatives. All three should look better now, so Sarajevo’s coach looked optimistic on Tuesday, telling reporters not to wrote his team off yet.

Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.
BATE vs Sarajevo: Prediction
BATE are considered favorites to win. If I bet on this game, I would leave winner and losers aside, and focus on goals.
BATE vs Sarajevo: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” is at 1.97. I like it because Sarajevo are with their back against the wall, needing at least two goals to qualify, and also because BATE have looked vulnerable defensively at home for weeks now, conceding in every single game.
