Bath vs Gloucester
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 30 April 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
A rather large west country derby as the men from bath take on the Cherry and Whites for pride,as well as some important log points. Bath have slowly slipped down the table after a bright first half of the season and will want to take everything Gloucester travel to the Rec.
Bath, along with Wasps and Saracens, looked like the three favourites for the title, especially with former Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder taking over at the Rec, but as the season has gone on Bath have slipped some poor results and as a result have fallen down to fifth after occupying second for so long. The hopes of the Top three are way off as Bath are 19 points behind Saracens now and cannot chase them down in the remaining two games. However, there is a lot for Bath to grow from for next year and it will mean they want to finish on a high. They will also want to finish the competition with a victory against one of their regional rivals, and Gloucester are ripe for the picking.
The Cherry and Whites’ season has been defined as snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They have gotten themselves into good positions all season long, against all opposition, and then fallen apart at the end it often throw leads away in a loss. It has seen Gloucester fall to eighth on the table with their seven wins and two draws. A late rally has seen them do a little better, but all in vain as their coach also quit during the season leaving the door open for Lions coach from South Africa Johan Ackermann to take up the mantle for next year. Bath at home will be a tough prospect, but with any derby, the heat of the moment can catch up to them.
