Bath vs Saracens
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 03 December 2016
Kick-off: 13:15 CET
A vitally important game for Bath if they want to try and keep in touch with the top two teams, especially after dropping points this weekend. Saracens are comfortably on top, and only a defeat from a close rival like Bath will reopen up that title race into a three way affair.
Bath suffered their second defeat of the season against Quins in a disappoint away game that would not have pleased the likes of Todd Blackadder the coach. The race is currently between Sarries who only have one loss, Wasps with two losses and Bath. They men from the South West have been incredibly good this season and they won’t take losses kindly, especially with such an important game against Saracens coming up, they know they will have to use their homeground advantage on this one.
Saracens have continued their great form from last season where they were the double champions of England and Europe. This season they were only cut down once, also by giant killers Harlequins, but otherwise have been almost perfect. Their attack has been great, as has their defence as they sit top of the table. Also, they are a team for the big occasions and a game at the Rec, against a reinvigorated Bath side will be a real challenge. Last week they did struggle a bit against Gloucester, but did well to come back from a 17-15 half time deficit to win 24-20.
Bath vs Saracens: Head-to-Head Stats
There has been a long history between these two stalwarts of the English Rugby system. In 39 encounters however it is the Saracens who hold sway as they have a massive 25 wins over Bath, and Bath can only counter that with 12 wins and two draws over the years.
Bath vs Saracens: Prediction
Bath really did look off their best against the Quins, and it will be a concern for Blackadder as he tries to rally his troops for their biggest game this season. Saracens have continued on their merry way, despite missing some key players like the Vunipola brothers, George Kruis, Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell. They have slowed their rampage with these notable exclusions, bit then Bath are also missing key men like Jonathan Joseph and George Ford. Bath will be tough at the Rec, but Saracens should get the win here, just.
Bath vs Saracens: Tips
This is going to be a really close, defence orientated game. So bet on the margin of victory to be less than seven in favour of Saracens.
