Bath vs Wasps
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 04 March 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
This is a massive game in terms of the top end of the Premiership log, the Wasps are at the top, quiet comfortably, but one of the teams that believe they can also be at the top is Bath, and Bath will want to get revenge at their home ground.
For Bath, they had sewed up a top three spot early in the season, but the reemergence of Exeter, who forced them into fourth, has blunted their charge for the title. They have gone through patches of losing games and dropping points when they shouldn’t and that is not the right way to be a dominant force .Against the Wasps earlier in the season, away from home, they were also well beaten which started a bit of a collapse for Bath, but at home they will feel they are strong favourites. A win for Bath here would be a huge confidence booster, but it would also open up the title chase against Wasps would be knocked down a peg.
Wasps have still been the dominant force through a few losses, as many of their chasers went through their own patches of losing at the same time. They have based their game around all out attack and it has mostly paid dividends for them, except for a few unexpected results as well. The Wasps are in a tight spot however as they have a lot of star missing at the moment because of the Six Nations, and it is not only that this will cause disruptions it is that the Wasps team’s attack is based on familiarity, so this would lead to the Wasps losing a bit of their sting, especially away from home, and to a good side in Bath.
Bath vs Wasps: Head-to-Head Stats
The Wasps have won more games against Bath than they have lost, but it is not a large margin as in 41 encounters the men from Coventry have won 21 games and Bath have the 19 to their name. There has also been a draw in that time.
Bath vs Wasps: Prediction
The Wasps are a well oiled machine, and an attacking one at that, but there are disruptions and the fact that the game is at the Bath fortress, The Rec. The Wasps will have to be at their best, and probably even better than that, to beat Bath in what will be a crunch game. Wasps have not got it all their own way so this one should go to the home team.
Bath vs Wasps: Tips
Despite probably not being the favourite to win this game, the Wasps will score tries, especially the likes of Willie le Roux, Christian Wade and Kurtley Beale.
