Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 17 March 2019
Kick-off: 13:30 CET
Bayer Leverkusen played their part in producing a memorable game last weekend, when they visited Hannover. Kevin Volland’s two first half goals gave them a big 0-2 advantage, which, by the 73rd minute, had… disappeared(!). Kai Havertz still made sure Leverkusen left the field with all three points, scoring Bayer’s third goal in the 87th minute. It was their sixth win in their last seven Bundesliga matches. The one they didn’t win, was a… brave 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund. They have climbed up 6th in the table, and if they go on like this, there is enough time to climb even higher, into the top four, claim a Champions League ticket. They are expected to start with Hradecky, Weiser, Tah, S. Bender, Jedvaj, Havertz, Aranguiz, Brandt, Bellarabi, Volland and Bailey. Unlike them, Pohjanpalo remains unavailable. The day before the game, Retsos was considered doubtful.
Just like Leverkusen, Werder Bremen starred in a truly thrilling game last weekend, beating Schalke 4-2 at home, their first victory after three 1-1 draws in a row. Remarkably, they remain undefeated in 2019. Last time they lost a game was just before Christmas, when they visited RB Leipzig (3-2). Pavlenka, Gebre Selassie, Moisander, Friedl, Augustinsson, M. Eggestein, Klaassen, Harnik, Kruse and Rashica, these should be the first 11. Johannsson and Veljkovic are unavailable (the latter is suspended). The day before the game, Langkamp, Osako, Sahin and Pizarro were considered doubtful. The latter dealt with an injury problem midweek, and it was unclear if he’d be ready on time to at least sit on the bench.

Two wins for Leverkusen, two for Werder as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two at BayArena.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen: Prediction
Super interesting game, between two in-form teams. The hosts are considered clear favorites to win, but I prefer focusing on goals.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen: Betting Tips
“Under 3.5 goals” pays a decent 1.73. “Under 2.5 goals” represents a bigger risk, but it’s at 2.75, tempting. Do keep in mind that Werder’s last four away games all stayed “under 2.5 goals”.
