Boca Juniors vs Palmeiras
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 26 April 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
No Wilmar Barrios, no Edwin Cardona either, the two Colombians remain injured and unavailable, Fernando Gago and Darío Benedetto are also out, dealing with must bigger problems, but Boca Juniors have two players back, central midfielder Pablo Pérez, who didn’t play last weekend against Newell’s due to cards, and another central midfielder, Nahitan Nández, who missed the first three Libertadores group stage games because of a red card he saw last season, playing for Peñarol. According to reports in local media, Boca will start the game with Agustín Rossi, Leonardo Jara, Santiago Vergini, Lisandro Magallán, Frank Fabra, Nahitan Nández, Pablo Pérez, Emanuel Reynoso, Carlos Tévez, Ramón Ábila and Cristian Pavón. Boca beat Newell’s Old Boys 3-1 at home last weekend, and are super close to winning the title in Argentina’s championship. They are on five points from three matches in their Libertadores group, sitting second in the table.
Keno’s goal in the 90th minute against Boca Juniors in Sao Paulo two weeks ago seemed to be giving Palmeiras their third win in the group, but a former Corinthians player, Carlos Tévez, equalized in added time, spoiling the Brazilians’ perfect record in the group. Even so, Palmeiras remain leaders on seven points. The Sao Paulo side cannot count on attacking midfielder Alejandro Guerra in this game. The Venezuelan got injured in training, missed the game against Internacional last weekend, and the medical staff suggested prolonging his off time for at least a few more days. Palmeiras beat Inter 1-0 at Pacaembu on Sunday, and now have four points from their first two Brazil Série A matches.

Boca Juniors vs Palmeiras: Head to head Stats
Boca have hosted Palmeiras four times in the past, and interestingly, three of those four matches ended in a draw. Boca won 2-1 in 1994, drew 1-1 in 1998, 2-2 in 2000 (it was a Copa Libertadores final, first leg), and again 2-2 in 2001 (Libertadores semifinal).
Boca Juniors vs Palmeiras: Prediction
Boca are considered favorites to win the game, but I have serious doubts. There are Brazilian teams that lack credibility when playing away from home, but I feel today’s Palmeiras are not like that, they remain… serious no matter where they play, and they definitely have the squad to leave Buenos Aires undefeated, if not victorious.
Boca Juniors vs Palmeiras: Betting Tips
Palmeiras’ double chance pays 1.70, and that is my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 2.55 betting odds.
