Boca Juniors vs San Lorenzo
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 10 March 2019
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
Boca Juniors visited Jorge Wilstermann midweek, on their Copa Libertadores group stage debut, and drew 0-0, a result their coach (and players) insisted was a positive one. “They have many players who were part of the team that beat River Plate 3-0 here, two years ago”, Gustavo Alfaro told reporters, “reminding” everyone that in 2017 River lost in Bolivia indeed, to Wilstermann. Last weekend, Boca beat Unión 1-3 in Santa Fe, making yet another step towards finishing in the top four, so as to secure, early, a spot in next season’s Copa Libertadores group stage. They sit third in the table, 10 whole points behind leaders Racing, and five ahead of 5th-placed River.
I’m… pinching myself to believe it… San Lorenzo sit last(!!!) in the Superliga table, on just 17 points from 20 matches (they have one in hand). It feels… surreal, and it makes them look even worse if you consider the fact that they are last among 26 teams, not among 16, 18, or 20 (which is the number of participants the top European leagues have). Last weekend they played with several reserves against Argentinos Juniors, and got embarrassed, losing 2-3 at home. Midweek, they earned a decent goalless draw in Arequipa, versus Melgar, starting their Copa Libertadores group campaign with a point away from home. Good news for coach Jorge Almirón is that on Thursday, both Rubén Botta and Andrés Rentería trained without problems. They had gotten injured in Peru, on Tuesday.

Boca Juniors vs San Lorenzo: Head to head Stats
San Lorenzo haven’t visited Boca since 2015; back then, they beat them 0-1. A year earlier, a game between these two at La Bombonera had ended without goals.
Boca Juniors vs San Lorenzo: Prediction
Both teams just played in the Copa Libertadores, and have another game coming up in a few days. A difference between the two, is that Boca have a deeper roster, which I expect to play a big role in this match.
Boca Juniors vs San Lorenzo: Betting Tips
Given that Boca’s win pays just over 1.50, I would risk combining it with “under 3.5 goals”, at 2.10.
