Bordeaux vs Castres
Competition: French Top 14 Rugby
Date: 19 February 2017
Kick-off: 12:30 CET
Bordeaux will be bitterly disappointed with their recent run of games that has seen them go from pushing in the top three and pressuring the big teams to now finding themselves way down the log almost out of the top 10. They have a tricky encounter against Castres to deal with, but will hope the homeground advantage works for them.
Bordeaux at a stage were close to breaking into second spot, but a horror run of results have seen them slip all the way down to ninth place, it is pretty inexplicable but in their last five games they have picked up just two points for their performances. They seem to almost be stuck on 39 points and all the while teams around them are making charges up the table. They will feel a little better about their latest result which has seen them draw with Clermont, a team in second, but also a team not at its best.
Castres meanwhile have been slogging hard to claw their way up the table after hovering around the middle, they find themselves in a respectable fourth spot, but behind them, all on 42 points, just a point less than Castres’ 43 is Toulon, Toulouse and Pau, all looking to leapfrog Castres. Castres have to travel to Bordeaux, which will be to their disadvantage, but if they can pull off another determined performance, there is no reason why this shouldn’t go the way of the away team.
