Borussia Monchengladbach vs Stuttgart
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 9 December 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Borussia Monchengladbach had won three games in a row (by a total score of 10-1!) before visiting RB Leipzig last weekend, but not only they lost, they even failed to score. They remained second in the table, but the gap between them and leaders Borussia Dortmund grew to seven points. Dieter Hecking is expected to have Sommer, Lang, Elvedi, Jantschke, Wendt, Neuhaus, Strobl, Zakaria, Hazard, Stindl and Plea in the starting lineup. Thorgan Hazard has been fantastic this season, he has already scored eight goals (as many as his teammate Plea), which is two less than what he scored last season, his best ever at Gladbach. Doucoure, Ginter and Hofmann are the three injured players that Hecking doesn’t have at his disposal.
If the season were over today, Stuttgart would have to go through play-offs to avoid relegation, they are just 16th in the table, but… there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel for them; they are on nine points, six of which have been earned in their last three games. Two wins, over Nurnberg and Augsburg, have lifted them out of the relegation zone. Santiago Ascacíbar’s absence is a problem, he was fundamental in their two recent clean sheets, plus, they are playing against a team that has scored more goals than anyone else this season, excluding leaders Dortmund. Markus Weinzierl is expected to have Zieler, Baumgartl, Pavard, Badstuber, Beck, Gentner, Aogo, Insua, Donis (their scorer last weekend), Gonzalez and Gomez in the starting lineup. Other than suspended Ascacíbar, two more players are unavailable, Özcan and Sosa, both due to injury.

I expect Gladbach to bounce back, despite Stuttgart’s good moment.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Stuttgart: Betting Tips
A simple Gladbach win pays just 1.44. Combined with “over 2.5 goals” it goes up to 2.05. Stuttgart have improved significantly, defensively, these last weeks, but I’m still counting on Hazard, Plea, and the rest of Gladbach’s guys to score at least twice, and a third goal, minimum, to come from either side.
