Botafogo vs Fluminense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 4 November 2017
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
Botafogo’s double chance at Atletico Mineiro last weekend was paying better (1.95) than Atletico’s win alone (1.75) and I had little doubt to suggest it. The Rio de Janeiro side earned a point thanks to a goalless draw, and are now 6th in the table, level on points with 5th-placed Cruzeiro. As things stand right now, Botafogo would need to play in the Copa Libertadores qualifiers next season, but they’re still close to the last spot that gives a direct ticket to the group stage. They have won three of their last four games at home, scoring a total of eight goals in those four matches. It will be interesting to see how many people go to the stadium this time. Last time Botafogo played at home, they beat leaders Corinthians 2-1, but incredibly, less than 10,000 fans paid for a ticket to watch that game between one of Rio de Janeiro’s greats and the second most popular team in the country (Corinthians).
What a heartbreak for Fluminense… Midweek, they played against Flamengo in the return leg of their Copa Sudamericana quarterfinal. They had lost the first game 1-0, at Maracana, as hosts, but as visitors in the same stadium they found themselves 1-0 and 3-1(!) up. Amazingly, Fluminense conceded twice in the last 20-25 minutes, the game ended 3-3, and Flu had their dream of winning the Sudamericana shuttered. Last weekend they drew 1-1 to Bahia at home (“Bahia’s double chance” and “under 2.5 combined goals” were the tips here for that game). Fluminense are sitting 14th in the table, just four points above the relegation line.

Botafogo vs Fluminense: Head to head Stats
Four wins for Botafogo and one for Fluminense in the last five games between these two with Fogao as hosts. Three of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Botafogo vs Fluminense: Prediction
Botafogo had a whole week to get ready for this match, while Fluminense had that midweek Copa Sudamericana derby against Flamengo. All things considered, I’m backing the hosts to pick up all three points.
Botafogo vs Fluminense: Betting Tips
Botafogo’s win pays 2.05. They have won five of their last six games as hosts, while Fluminense have lost three of their last four. I’m keeping the risk as low as possible, by avoiding any special bets, considering that 2.05 good enough.
