Bournemouth vs Watford
Competition: England Premier League
Date: 2 January 2019
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Bournemouth knew their mission at Old Trafford last weekend was almost impossible, not simply because they were visiting Manchester United, but because they were visiting a spectacularly rejuvenated United side. The fact that they went 1-0 down less than five minutes into the game, made Bournemouth’s mission even harder. When the first half’s added time started, they were 3-0 down. They did get one back before the end of the first half, but they still lost, 4-1. Nathan Aké was their scorer. The Dutchman has played in all 20 Premier League matches this season, he has actually started in all 20, and been substituted only once. That was his second goal of the season. Bournemouth were and remained 12th in the table, on 26 points. Simon Francis, Lewis Cook, Dan Gosling and Adam Smith are injured.
Abdoulaye Doucouré salvaged a point for Watford last weekend, in their home game against Newcastle. United had taken the lead in the first half, Watford missed at least two awesome chances to equalize, and they finally succeeded to draw level in the 83rd minute. It was the Frenchman’s third goal of the season (he needs to improve, if he is to break his seven-goal record from last season). Watford finished the game on more than 60% ball possession, shots were 12-8 for them, the on target ones were 5-2 also for them, so someone could say they deserved – at least – that point. They left Everton behind them, they finished last weekend sitting 9th in the table, on 28 points. Christian Kabasele, Sebastian Prödl, Andre Gray and Adalberto Peñaranda are injured.
