Bristol vs Bath
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 26 February 2017
Kick-off: 14:00 CET
Bath, after having a few results go against them leading them to fall a position out of the top three, are back on the rebuild and will be keen to face Bristol who have once again reverted to being the whipping boys of the Premiership.
Bristol caused a few upsets going back against Sale and Worcester where they picked up consecutive wins in the competition, their first, and only, wins in the entire competition. Things have not looked good since then though as they have lost the next three games, but they have also lost them badly as teams like Harlequins and Leicester managed to put forty and fifty points over them with ease while the team from the South West struggled to even get tries. Bristol now have to welcome Bath, who are a side to watch to their home ground, but they also have to get amped up for a big South West derby.
For Bath, since losing to Newcastle Falcons, by just two points, and Exeter the week before that, they have struck back with two wins in two, and they were both good wins, pushing aside Northampton saints and the Harlequins. Both of these games were at the Rec, Bath’s fortress of a hoe ground, but they are a good enough side to travel just up the road to Bristol to take on a flagging team on their own ground. Bath are also in the hunt for third, but also second as the two teams above them are both only two points away and really in striking distance.
Bristol vs Bath: Head-to-Head Stats
In this South West derby, there have been some cracking games, and taking into account how low down the log Bristol are, it is surprising how close the results are historically. Bath have won 11 games, but Bristol have seven wins to their name as well as a draw.
Bristol vs Bath: Prediction
Even though this is a rather large derby in terms of the region, it is still a rather big mismatch. Bath are back to their best while Bristol are falling away from their heroics of a few games back. It should be a simple matter for Bath when they face Bristol, and they will want to make it count by getting a bonus point in order to pressure Exeter and Saracens.
Bristol vs Bath: Tips
Bristol have been leaking points to free scoring opposition, and Bath are that type of team. Back Bath to get four tries, at least.
