Bulgaria vs France
Competition: Europe World Cup Qualifying
Date: 7 October 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
You look at Bulgaria today, these days, these last years, and you doubt they can beat France, but actually, historically, this is a country where the French have suffered (with major losses even in Paris not being unheard-of). Does this Bulgaria team have what it takes to beat France? The answer to that, I reckon, is “at home, yes”. The Bulgarians have already won four matches at home in these qualifiers, that’s four out of four. Sure, they struggled against Luxembourg (4-3!), Belarus (1-0), but they also beat the Netherlands (2-0), and late August, Sweden (3-2), so… why not France? Mathematically, they can still finish in the top two. On 12 points, they absolutely must win both their last two matches (this one and in Luxembourg, on Tuesday), and hope for a favourable combination of results in other games.
It really feels as if France are… doing their “best” to not finish first in this group… Back in June, they lost the game in Sweden in the silliest (not to use another word) way possible, boosting the Swedes’ chances of finishing in the top two, even first. Last month, they threw two more crucial points to the dustbin, “managing” to get stuck to a 0-0 draw in Paris to Luxembourg(!!!). No matter what will have already happened in Sweden (their game against Luxembourg kicks-off earlier), France are masters of their own fate, beating both Bulgaria and Belarus on Tuesday, at home, they finish first. France will be without Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial. The former is injured, the latter is simply… ignored by Didier Deschamps, despite being in great form with Manchester United. Dimitri Payet is back to the team, though.

Bulgaria vs France: Head to head Stats
Bulgaria have hosted France nine times in the past, and they have an awesome record of seven wins(!), one draw, and just one defeat. Total goals, 15 for the hosts, eight for the visitors.
Bulgaria vs France: Prediction
At home, I feel I have to respect Bulgaria, who, let’s not forget, also have an exceptional record against France (in Sofia). Traditions and records don’t play football, but on the other hand, “names” alone don’t play football either. The French may be infinitely more famous than the Bulgarians, but they have dropped the ball in three games in these qualifiers already (they drew at Belarus on the opening day of the qualifying campaign), and last, but not least, I don’t see why their win pays just 1.19.
Bulgaria vs France: Betting Tips
At 4.40(!!!), I’m more than enthusiastic to suggest Bulgaria’s double chance. Draw alone pays a fantastic 6.50, but keeping one’s greediness under control, I guess we all agree even 4.40 is mind-blowing (for a double chance, and not only).
