Ceara vs Chapecoense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 10 August 2019
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
Ceará were the big winners of Fortaleza’s derby last weekend. Goals by Thiago Galhardo and Felippe Cardoso in the first half, in a matter of three minutes (15’ and 18’), gave them a significant lead over city rivals Fortaleza, who did get one goal back right before halftime, but… nothing more than that. It was Ceará’s second win in a row at home, after that big 2-0 over formerly undefeated leaders Palmeiras, and fourth win in seven home games since the start of the season. Right-back Samuel Xavier received a yellow card, it was his third in the championship, so he has to sit out this weekend. Enderson Moreira is expected to have Diogo Silva, Cristovam, Valdo, Luiz Otávio, João Lucas, Ricardinho, Fabinho, Lima, Thiago Galhardo, Leandro Carvalho and Felippe Cardoso in the starting lineup. Ceará are 11th in the table, on 17 points from 13 matches.
What a game by Chapecoense last Monday… They found themselves 1-0 and 2-1 down in Porto Alegre, visiting Gremio, but by the 60th minute they were 2-3 up(!), only to get equalized in the 80th. They haven’t won any of their last seven Serie A matches, they have celebrated just one victory in the last 12, they are below the relegation line, on just 10 points from 13 matches, but at least against Gremio they gave their fans at home something to get excited about. Emerson Cris would love to have Everaldo available, he is their leading scorer this season, but he saw another yellow card on Monday and has to sit out. Tiepo, Eduardo, Gum, M. Ramos, Bruno Pacheco, Márcio Araújo, Augusto, Camilo, Campanharo, Arthur Gomes and Henrique Almeida, these are the 11 expected to start.

Ceará have hosted Chape three times the last six years; twice they beat them, and one game ended in a draw.
Ceara vs Chapecoense: Prediction
I take Everaldo’s absence very seriously. He has scored Chape’s half goals in the Serie A thus far. Plus, Ceará have looked awesome at home lately.
