Ceara vs Flamengo
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 29 April 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Ceará are still to score in the Série A (they are one of the three teams not to have celebrated a goal yet), but last weekend they earned their first point, thanks to that goalless draw at home versus Sao Paulo. Their coach didn’t open his cards these last days, avoiding giving clear signs of his intentions regarding the starting lineup. One thing is for sure, Fortaleza’s impressive stadium will have a lot of people, just like it did last weekend. Ceará have many fans themselves, but the fact that they are hosting Flamengo, the most popular team in the country, explains further how come there were almost 30,000 tickets sold 48 hours before kick-off.
Weird things are happening at Flamengo… A huge crowd showed up at Maracanã last weekend to watch the team and bid Júlio César goodbye (the former Brazil international goalkeeper decided to put an end to his career), they saw Fla win 2-0, go to four points from two Série A matches, but… incredibly, some fans went to the airport before the squad’s flight to Colombia midweek to protest (they earned a precious goalless draw there), and then, there were more “complaints” from fans when the squad appeared at Rio’s airport to fly to Fortaleza(!). Club officials claim the fans who keep “harassing” the players are acting so because they have a hidden agenda, it’s the president of the club they are really after. Intrigue-aside, Fla are on four points from two matches in the championship, they have good chances of qualifying for the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, and in a few days they are visiting Ponte Preta in the Copa do Brasil. They are at a good place, despite some fans’… nagging.

Ceara vs Flamengo: Head to head Stats
There is a goalless draw between these two in Fortaleza back in February, a Primeira Liga (a smaller competition) game. Before that, Ceará hadn’t hosted Fla since 2011 (0-1).
Ceara vs Flamengo: Prediction
It’s Flamengo’s back-to-back games that make me feel Ceará have a decent chance of earning at least a point.
Ceara vs Flamengo: Betting Tips
Ceará’s double chance is at 1.70, and I think it’s worth the risk. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.25.
