Celtic vs Rosenborg
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 20 September 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Celtic bounced back from their elimination in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, by AEK Athens, and got the job done in the Europa League play-offs against Sūduva. They drew 1-1 in Lithuania, before winning 3-0 at home. Playing in the Europa League group stage was the absolute minimum for them this season internationally. Right after that 3-0 over the Lithuanians, they beat Rangers 1-0 at home, in Scotland’s biggest derby. They got stuck to a goalless draw with St. Mirren last weekend though, so they are on 10 points from five matches, five behind leaders Hearts. It’s worth mentioning that on the last day of the summer transfer window they sold one of their best players, center-forward Moussa Dembélé, to Lyon, for 22m euros.
Funny how things come… Early August, it was Celtic who eliminated Rosenborg in the Champions League qualifiers, beating them 3-1 in Glasgow, and drawing without goals in Norway. Rosenborg bounced back in the Europa League qualifiers and play-offs, winning all four games against Cork City and Shkendija, by a total score of 10-1(!). They were in the Europa League group stage last season as well, but five points in six matches wasn’t enough to push them through to the last 32. Last weekend they beat Vålerenga 2-3 away from home, thanks to an added time goal. They have now won seven games in a row, Europa League and Norway championship combined.

Celtic vs Rosenborg: Prediction
Celtic are rightfully considered huge favorites to win the game. Anything can happen, especially on the teams’ debut in the group stage, but… really, any other result but a Celtic win will be a big surprise.
Celtic vs Rosenborg: Betting Tips
A simple Celtic win is at 1.44. “Over 2.5 goals” pays 1.75. These two combined, are at 2.25, my main tip. Only one of Celtic’s last five games had more than two goals, but I’m counting on Rosenborg to… try play football, and contribute to that “over 2.5”.
