Cerro Porteno vs Deportivo Capiata
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 17 September 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Cerro Porteño have won three of their last four games, Copa Libertadores included. Three of those, were away, including in Sao Paulo, against Palmeiras. Incredibly, the only game of the last four they failed to win, was the one at home, against relegation-threatened Deportivo Santaní, a game in which they salvaged a point in added time (1-1). Coach Fernando Jubero decided to change a policy that… lasted months; instead of keeping the media and Cerro fans cut off during the team’s practice sessions, this last week he decided to… open the doors, let both reporters and simple fans attend the sessions. On another note, current president Raúl Zapag announced he won’t be running for re-election in the soon-to-come elections, saying that he feels his cycle at the club is coming to its end. Cerro are second in the table, hoping to close the four-point gap on leaders Olimpia this weekend.
Deportivo Capiatá lost 3-1 at Nacional last weekend, but remained third in the Clausura table, behind the two… powerhouses of Paraguayan football, Olimpia and Cerro Porteño. Santiago Salcedo scored their goal at Arsenio Erico, with which he equalized the record of Uruguayan Rodrigo López. The next goal he scores, will make him the leading scorer of all times in Paraguayan football, taking into account the two yearly tournaments, the Apertura and the Clausura. Salcedo said he would love to score his record-breaking goal at La Nueva Olla, the… coolest football stadium in the country for almost a year now, since its inauguration. Rodrigo Burgos got sent-off in the dying minutes of the match at Nacional last weekend. Hugo Lusardi or Gustavo Noguera should take his place in the first 11.

Cerro Porteno vs Deportivo Capiata: Head to head Stats
The Apertura game between these two at La Nueva Olla ended in a 2-2 draw. Before that, Cerro had nine(!) wins in a row at home over Capiatá. Deportivo’s last win visiting Cerro was back in 2013.
Cerro Porteno vs Deportivo Capiata: Prediction
Cerro can’t afford to drop points. I expect them to win, despite dropping the ball big time in their last home game, hosting minnows Deportivo Santaní.
Cerro Porteno vs Deportivo Capiata: Betting Tips
A simple Cerro win pays just 1.40. I expect goals, at least three, “over 2,5 goals” is at 1.65, and combined with Cerro’s victory goes up to 2.05, my main tip.
