Cerro Porteno vs Junior
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 13 September 2017
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
What an occasion for Cerro Porteno… You may have seen the news somewhere, as it made it even outside Paraguay and South America. Cerro Porteno are about to play their first international game in their impressively revamped stadium, which (this is the real news) was made possible mostly because the fans of the club themselves dedicated money and personal labor for the cause. Cerro Porteno can now be proud of having the best stadium in the country, and, most of all, they owe no one a favor, they did it themselves, and a victory over Junior will be the best possible way to celebrate the occasion. They have already played a championship game there, but an international game against famous Junior is a much more fitting occasion to celebrate the completion of the works.
Teo Gutierrez remains injured at Junior, which is very bad news for the Colombian side. The striker didn’t even travel with the team to Paraguay. Junior are sitting second in the table in Colombia’s championship, but back-to-back defeats to Once Caldas and Cortulua (both away from home) have left them six points behind leaders Santa Fe. In the previous round of the Copa Sudamericana they eliminated another Colombian side, Deportivo Cali, on penalties, after both legs ended in 1-1 draws.

Cerro Porteno vs Junior: Head to head Stats
Cerro Porteno have hosted Junior three times before, beating them twice and drawing once. Total goals, just two for the hosts, none(!) for the visitors.
Cerro Porteno vs Junior: Prediction
Cerro Porteno are considered rather clear favorites to win the game. They are not in the best possible condition, but they are playing at home, against a team that is going through a rough patch, so… everything considered, I am backing the hosts to win, not without reservations though.
Cerro Porteno vs Junior: Betting Tips
Cerro Porteno’s win pays 1.90. Taking the lead in the first half and protecting it until the final whistle, pushes the odds to a much better 3.10.
