Cerro Porteno vs Olimpia
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 19 August 2018
Kick-off: 21:30 CET
Cerro Porteño are “hosting” reigning champions Olimpia as Clausura leaders, and have the chance to grow a four-point lead. “Hosting”, not really hosting, as the game is held at Defensores del Chaco. For a purely… Paraguayan reason, Cerro cannot host the game at their real home, the Nueva Olla, despite being an awesome stadium, as Gremio and Palmeiras, among others, saw for themselves earlier this year. Coach Luis Zubeldía has midfielder Kevin Fernández back from injury, and is expected to start him, despite the fact that Blas Franco has been doing well in that position recently. Teams in Paraguay are obliged to start their games with an U19 player, and most probably that will be Fernández. They are expected to start with Antony Silva, Raúl Cáceres, Marcos Cáceres, Juan Escobar, Santiago Arzamendia, Rodrigo Rojas, Marcelo Palau, Hernán Novick, Kevin Fernández (or Blas Franco), Jorge Benítez and Diego Churín. Last weekend, Cerro beat 3 de Febrero 1-3 in Ciudad del Este.
Olimpia demolished Deportivo Capiatá 4-1 last weekend, at home, with Néstor Camacho scoring his first two goals in the Clausura. He scored 14 in the Apertura, but up until last weekend, he had stayed very… quiet at the start of the second half of the season. Olimpia are expected to start with Alfredo Aguilar, Sergio Otálvaro, Darío Verón, Jorge Arias, Iván Torres, Fernando Cardozo, Richard Sánchez, Richard Ortiz, William Mendieta, Néstor Camacho and Roque Santa Cruz. On 10 points from five matches, one behind leaders Cerro Porteño, this is their golden opportunity to leapfrog the Clausura leaders.

Cerro Porteno vs Olimpia: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Cerro, one for Olimpia, and two draws, in the last five games between these two with Cerro as hosts, at least typically, as the games usually take place at neutral Defensores del Chaco.
Cerro Porteno vs Olimpia: Prediction
Both Apertura games between these two earlier this year had one goal each. This time, I expect more, I expect both teams to score, and I prefer betting on that, rather than choosing sides.
Cerro Porteno vs Olimpia: Betting Tips
Both teams to score, at 1.83, is my main tip. “Over 2.5 goals” is at 2.10. Last but not least, these two combined, promise an even better 2.40.
