Cerro Porteno vs Sol de America
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 4 August 2018
Kick-off: 01:00 CET
Second draw in a row for Cerro Porteño, not how they expected and hoped to start the Clausura. Truth is, they were better than Libertad last weekend, especially in the last 20-25 minutes they had the chances to pick up all three points, but… no. Coach Luis Zubeldía seems to have decided to start this game with the same 11 he did last week, at Defensores del Chaco, versus Libertad. Cerro are about to host Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores, a… bigger than huge game for them, but they must start delivering in the Clausura as well. If they don’t win it, they will have to play qualifiers next season to reach the Copa Libertadores group stage, and that’s a scenario they want to avoid.
Given that they were 0-2 down 24 minutes into the game last weekend at home, versus Deportivo Capiatá, the final 2-2 wasn’t the worst that could have happened to Sol de América. They definitely got surprised, conceding twice in the first 25 minutes. Thankfully for them, they closed the gap almost immediately, in the 29th minute (with what was a very weird goal). Ernesto Álvarez equalized for them in the 86th minute, beautiful strike, his second goal in six days. Sol have three draws in as many Clausura matches. Not losing is… something, but they need victories, and last weekend’s match was one that… on paper, they were counting on winning.

Cerro Porteno vs Sol de America: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Cerro, two for Sol as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Barrio Obrero.
Cerro Porteno vs Sol de America: Prediction
Cerro’s main characteristic in the Apertura was their good defense. They have now conceded in three games in a row, and that has hurt their results in the Clausura. Bottom line, I expect them to concede again, but also score.
Cerro Porteno vs Sol de America: Betting Tips
I wouldn’t touch Cerro’s win at 1.36. I prefer “both teams to score”, at 2.10
