Chapecoense vs Atletico Mineiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 6 October 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
As if losing two games in a row and getting stuck below the relegation line weren’t enough for Chapecoense, they lost defensive midfielder Márcio Araújo as well, to injury. He is not expected to play again this season. Last weekend they lost 3-1 at Ceará, in a six-point match, as the Fortaleza side are direct rivals in the fight to avoid relegation. An interesting statistic about Chape is that they have conceded more goals on counterattacks, than any other team in the Série A. When something keeps happening over and over again, it’s clear that it’s no coincidence. Despite being below the relegation line, on 28 points from 27 matches, Chape are still hopeful they will avoid relegation, counting on their good – overall – home record.
Atlético Mineiro… went crazy after conceding first last weekend, at home, to Sport Recife, early in the game, and by the 30th minute they were 4-1 up(!). Right after that, Sport lost a player (sent-off), which simplified things even further for the Belo Horizonte side. Final score, 5-2, victory for Atlético after two matches from which they had earned just one point. Bad news for them is that both Ricardo Oliveira and Cazares are dealing with muscle problems, and didn’t travel to Chapecó. Both are important pieces of Atlético’s puzzle, and will be interesting to see how the team will cope without them. Atlético are on 45 points, in the top-6, still in with a chance of winning the title, albeit a small one.

Chapecoense vs Atletico Mineiro: Head to head Stats
One win for Chape, one for Atlético as well, and three draws, in the last five games between these two in Chapecó.
Chapecoense vs Atletico Mineiro: Prediction
Both teams have a big-big motive. Different ones, but big, both. All things considered, I’m backing the hosts to avoid defeat, mostly because they are desperate to earn something out of this game, and Atlético will play without two key players.
Chapecoense vs Atletico Mineiro: Betting Tips
Chape’s double chance is at 1.55. My main tip though, is “both teams to score”, at 1.80.
