Chapecoense vs Santos
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 23 July 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Chapecoense’s coach, Gilson Kleina, admitted that his team’s performance against Bahia midweek was not good, but he was left satisfied with the point they salvaged, thanks to Osman’s goal (he reappeared after four whole months) late in the game, a few minutes after Bahia had taken the lead. Truth is, Chape looked second best on the pitch in most of the match, and that point was the maximum they deserved. They lost important players during the World Cup finals break, that’s not a minor detail, and the ones who were signed still need to prove they have what it takes to succeed at Chape. The team are sitting 14th in the table, on 15 points from 13 matches. Newly-signed attacking midfielder Agustín Doffo has his papers ready, and can play, if chosen by Kleina.
If you’re a Santos fan, you won’t like this, but I really think Jair’s team were lucky to avoid defeat midweek, when they “hosted” Palmeiras at Pacaembu. While it is true that Santos were the better team during parts of the match, I think there is no doubt that Palmeiras missed the biggest, by far, chances to score more than once. All things considered, a… 2-3 would have been more representative of how the game went, rather than the final 1-1. Young attacker Rodrygo got injured and will not feature against Chape. Santos are very close to signing Paraguayan attacker Derlis González. Sitting 15th in the table, Santos are desperate to get something out of this game.

Chapecoense vs Santos: Head to head Stats
Two Chape wins, one Santos victory, and a draw, in the four games between these two the last four years in Chapecó.
Chapecoense vs Santos: Prediction
Chape are considered slight favorites to win the game, but personally I’m backing Santos to leave Chapecó undefeated.
Chapecoense vs Santos: Betting Tips
Santos’ win in “draw no bet” is at 2.00, with their double chance at 1.55. Chape were really poor against Bahia, but I just don’t trust Santos enough to back them to win without including the safety net of “draw no bet”.
