Chelsea vs Swansea
Competition: Premier League
Date: 25 February 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
It may seem folly to say that Swansea will pose a threat to Chelsea, but there is nothing like a team that is crawling its way out of the relegation zone to cause an upset, and for the log leaders, they need to be wary of the Welsh side.
Since Swansea sacked their American manager Bob Bradley they have made some definite progress after being in the bottom three of so long. They are not totally out of the woods just yet, but as they sit in 15th, four points clear of Hull who top the bottom three, they will be breathing far easier. Their form has seen them rack up the wins, taking three victories in their last five games, with the two losses coming against some mighty opposition in Manchester City and Arsenal. In saying that they have beaten Liverpool, as well as the defending champions Leicester, not to mention Southampton – all teams who were above them at the time of playing.
Chelsea’s progress on the other hand has gone along nicely as they still top the Premier League table without too much threat. They have drawn two of their last three games which will be of annoyance to them, but no one below the really took the initiative to gain ground as there is still a substantial eight point gap to Manchester City in second. However, they will know that they have to get back on a good winning streak and cannot afford a draw against a team like Swansea, never mind a loss. Chelsea will feel confident, but they should still keep an eye out for a team that has some good momentum at the moment.
Chelsea vs Swansea: Head-to-Head Stats
Swansea will be desperate to add to their tally in this game, a in 11 games in total they have picked up just the one win. There have been four draws, which seems quite high, compared to the Blues’ six wins, in fact when they met for the first time this season, it was a 2-2 draw.
Chelsea vs Swansea: Prediction
Swansea will be competitive and they will play with fire and vigour, but Chelsea are such a well balanced machine, they will be able to soak up the pressure at the back and then counter and construct their own chances which they are apt at converting. Expect the Blues to win, but Swansea won’t embarrass themselves and should at least get a goal out of this.
Chelsea vs Swansea: Tips
Chelsea have not struggled to score goals in their last five games, racking up 10, but then neither have Swansea as they have picked up eight, so bet on both teams to score.
