Chikhura vs Aberdeen
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 25 July 2019
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Chikhura did a great job in the first qualifying round against Fola Esch beating them twice by the same score, 2-1, first away and then at home. Sardalishvili scored in both games. Super important detail: Chikhura are a Sachkhere team, their stadium there is pretty modest, it does not meet UEFA criteria, so they have to play their home games far away, in Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi. Against Fola Esch, two weeks ago, less than 2,000 people attended the game, in Tbilisi’s vast national stadium. More fans should be expected in this game, but still, Chikhura will play their “home” leg at a practically empty stadium. No game for them last weekend. They are 6th in the table of Georgia’s championship, on 27 points from 21 matches, 14 points behind leaders Dinamo Tbilisi, and even five points behind the team right above them in the table, 5th-placed Lokomotivi Tbilisi.
Derek McInnes, Aberdeen’s manager, as well as his assistants, signed new contracts with the Scottish club two weeks ago, pretty much the same day they beat RoPS 2-1 at home, in the first leg of their first qualifying round tie with the Finnish side. A week later, they were given a real scare by their modest rivals; RoPS scored first, early, so at that point, they were qualifying, thanks to their away goal. Aberdeen ended up winning 1-2, and McInnes talked about his players’ “mental strength” after the final whistle, saying that despite the… scare, the way they qualified could come in handy against Chikhura, as they now know, first hand, that there are no easy games for them in these qualifiers, not even against theoretically “easy” rivals. No game for them last weekend, as the championship in Scotland hasn’t started yet.

Chikhura vs Aberdeen: Prediction
I’m with Aberdeen to win the game, because they have a much stronger roster, and because Chikhura are not really-really hosting the Scots at home.
