China vs Uzbekistan
Competition: International friendly
Date: 25 March 2019
Kick-off: 08:30 CET
Could this be Fabio Cannavaro’s second and last(!) game in charge as China’s national coach? It may well be if they lose and disappoint the way they did on Thursday against Thailand (lost 0-1). The Italian was recently named new coach of China’s national team (not leaving his Guangzhou Evergrande job though), and according to many, these two China Cup games were seen as a chance to show the FA that he should be trusted with the job long-term. They were incredibly disappointing on Thursday, and soon after the final whistle, Cannavaro told reporters that “the team’s problems have no quick fix”, adding that he could not… pull any magic tricks in a week. I repeat, if China disappoint again, the FA may think that the Cannavaro “experiment” is just not going to work out, and look elsewhere for a full-time Marcello Lippi successor.
Unlike China’s loss to Thailand, Uzbekistan’s 0-3 defeat to Uruguay in the other China Cup semifinal was no surprise. They were 2-0 down less than 25 minutes into the game, they never really managed to react, and in the 82nd minute they conceded again. All in all, they were beaten (fair and square) by a much better team, that despite playing without some of their biggest stars, looked 100% focused on the “job” throughout the match. Uzbekistan have now stayed without a goal for about 260 minutes. They last scored late in the first half of their AFC Asian Cup match against Japan, three games ago.

China vs Uzbekistan: Prediction
China are considered slight favorites to win the game. I prefer focusing on goals instead.
China vs Uzbekistan: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.65, and “under 1.5” at 3.00. Also, “no” on “both teams to score” pays a not bad 1.83.
