Club Brugge vs LASK
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 28 August 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Hans Vanaken didn’t let his golden chance go wasted, he converted from the penalty spot in the 10th minute last week in Austria, a goal that made all the difference in the first leg between these two. LASK had two attempts on the post, but no goal, yet another clean sheet for recently-signed Simon Mignolet, actually his fourth in five appearances wearing Club Brugge’s shirt. On another note, the Belgian side seem to have reached an agreement with Tottenham over the transfer of Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama. Does his move to Brugge depend on the team’s qualification for the Champions League group stage (with all the money involved)? It remains to be seen. No game for Club Brugge last weekend, they were given extra days to focus exclusively on the return leg against LASK.
Interesting… Between the two, it’s LASK who have to… outdo themselves in this return leg, having lost at home last week. Even so, (here comes the “interesting” part) Club Brugge were given the weekend off by their League officials, while LASK had to play in Austria’s championship, and not… any game, but a big one in Vienna, against Rapid. Valérien Ismaël, their coach, made four changes to his starting lineup, and things worked out, as LASK won 1-2. Young (21) Austrian-Croatian striker Marko Raguz scored both goals, the winner in added time. The Linz side had more attempts than Brugge last week (15-12), but just one(!) on target. They had ball possession as well, but all in all, failed to… impose their own rules on the pitch, and ended up paying for that.

Club Brugge vs LASK: Head to head Stats
Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.
Club Brugge vs LASK: Prediction
LASK beat Basel 1-2 in Switzerland in the third qualifying round, but I seriously doubt they can repeat that score in Brugge. I do see them avoid defeat, though.
Club Brugge vs LASK: Betting Tips
LASK’s double chance is at 2.15, paying considerably better than Brugge’s win. Combined with “under 2.5 goals”, “draw or LASK” pays 3.15. I have a 1-1 hunch.
