Club Nacional vs Santos
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 2 May 2018
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
This game starts soon after the match between Real Garcilaso and Estudiantes will be over, meaning that both teams will have a clear picture of the situation in the table of the group before kick-off. Club Nacional are sitting second, on five points, one more than Real Garcilaso and Estudiantes, and four less than leaders Santos. Under different circumstances, they would have rotated their team extensively last Saturday, when they hosted Atenas. With a huge Copa Libertadores game coming up, their coach would have loved to rest some key players, but Nacional couldn’t afford to drop a single point, so they played pretty much with a full squad. They won 2-1, and remained two points ahead of second-placed Peñarol, with just one Apertura game left.
Unlike Nacional, Santos didn’t play last weekend, so they had a whole week to get prepared for this game. Last week they beat Estudiantes 2-0 at home, their third straight victory in the group, after their defeat in Cuzco on the opening day of the group stage. They won three of their four matches in April, including two against Estudiantes in the Libertadores. The way things stand in the group right now, crazy things need to happen for them not to finish in the top 2. They need to lose both remaining games, including to Real Garcilaso at home, and Nacional to beat them by at least two goals, and then draw or win in Argentina against Estudiantes. It’s interesting to note that in those four April matches they conceded just one goal.

Club Nacional vs Santos: Head to head Stats
Nacional have hosted Santos once before, in 2003. It was a spectacular 4-4 draw.
Club Nacional vs Santos: Prediction
Nacional are considered relatively clear favorites to win, but I’m backing the visitors to leave Montevideo undefeated.
Club Nacional vs Santos: Betting Tips
Santos’ double chance is at 1.75. “Under 2.5 goals” feels very probable, given that none of Santos’ four April games had more than two goals, but pays only 1.47.
