Colon vs Argentinos Juniors
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 12 July 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Preparations for this game were going great at Colón, until Gabriel Esparza got injured in a friendly game against Patronato. He is one of those players considered “untouchables”, one of those who have a pretty much secure spot in the first 11 if available, so his absence is a real problem for Pablo Lavallén. Good news was that the injury is not that serious as first thought. He will miss both games against Argentinos Juniors in Copa Sudamericana, but compared to the months-long absence initially feared, missing “just some” crucial matches is not… the end of the world. Colón have already eliminated Deportivo Municipal from Peru, beating them twice, by a total score of 5-0. In the second round they eliminated River Plate from Uruguay, drawing 0-0 in Montevideo, and then winning 3-1 at home, despite conceding first.
Argentinos Juniors lost several players after the end of last season, but they did sign some guys who have already proven they have what it takes to stand well in a team of Argentinos’ level. Leonardo Pisculichi, Gastón Bojanich, Gastón Machín, Claudio Paul Spinelli and last but not least, Alexis Mac Allister, all left. On the other hand, Iván Colman returned from Aldosivi, Santiago Silva signed a one-year contract (Argentinos are the 9th Argentinian team the 38-year-old Uruguayan striker plays for), Nicolás Silva arrived from Banfield, and Victorio Ramis from Godoy Cruz. In the two previous Copa Sudamericana rounds, Diego Dabove’s team eliminated Estudiantes de Mérida from Venezuela, and Deportes Tolima from Colombia.

Colon vs Argentinos Juniors: Prediction
Before the Copa Sudamericana break, I would be more… 50-50 between these two. Right now, I really like Colón’s chances of winning the game.
Colon vs Argentinos Juniors: Betting Tips
Colón’s win is at 2.20, good enough to avoid risking with something else. I doubt Argentinos will score, “Colón to win and keep a clean sheet looks tempting”, but I prefer to stay with that 2.20.
