Corinthians vs Sao Paulo
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 10 November 2018
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
Corinthians have done so poorly these last months, despite earning the odd positive result that allowed them to reach the Copa do Brasil final (which they lost to Cruzeiro), that their president pretty much announced that Jair Ventura won’t be working there next year. To be more precise, he “avoided giving any guarantees that he will be the team’s coach next season”, but in reality, his tone left few doubts, the club is not satisfied with the coach, and they’ll look for someone who will… suit them better. Last weekend, Corinthians lost 1-0 at Botafogo. They are on 39 points, still in the Copa Sudamericana zone, but keeping an eye on the teams below the relegation line. Three teams are on 34 points, all three fighting to avoid relegation.
Diego Aguirre is another coach who must be feeling insecure regarding his job. Sao Paulo drew 2-2 with Flamengo last weekend at home, despite taking the lead twice. They are fourth in the table, on 57 points, they have forgotten about winning the title, but obviously, a top-4 spot is something they seem perfectly equipped to earn. Top-4 teams qualify for the Copa Libertadores group stage, and skip the always risky qualifiers. Even so, the club officials feel the team should have done better, and according to reports, Aguirre may lose his job if they don’t get something out of this derby in Itaquera. Winger Éverton is back from injury. Defensive midfielder Húdson and goalkeeper Jean missed the last game due to cards, and both are expected to start. Jean, Bruno Peres, Arboleda, Bruno Alves, Reinaldo, Jucilei, Hudson, Liziero, Everton, Gonzalo Carneiro and Diego Souza should be in the starting lineup.

Three wins and two draws in the last five Sao Paulo derbies between these two with Corinthians as hosts.
Corinthians vs Sao Paulo: Prediction
Corinthians are considered slight favorites to win. Personally, I don’t see a winner in this game.
Corinthians vs Sao Paulo: Betting Tips
Draw pays 3.10, or 3.50 if combined with “under 2.5 goals”. If I were in a conservative mood, I would go for Sao Paulo’s double chance, at 1.55, because it’s the one of the three that pays the best.
