Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 13 March 2019
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Mano Menezes, Cruzeiro’s coach, repeated several times the last 2-3 days that no game is easy, and that his players need to stay 100% focused, or else they’ll… regret it. The overall feeling in Belo Horizonte is that Cruzeiro can only beat Deportivo Lara, a team going through all sorts of problems lately, because of the… situation in Venezuela. Menezes knows that his player can hear what the whole city is talking about (at least Cruzeiro’s fans), and that’s why he repeated, publicly, but also at training sessions, that no game is won without playing it. Last week they beat Huracán in Buenos Aires thanks to a Rodriguinho goal in the 30th minute. It was a game played under intense rainfall, a game in which any of the two could have won it. On Sunday, they beat Tombense 2-0 at home, in their State championship.
Deportivo Lara were scheduled to host Emelec last Thursday, but because of Venezuela’s electricity problems, the game didn’t start until early afternoon, next day. The Venezuelans salvaged a point (0-0), looking second best on the pitch during most of the game. It’s worth mentioning that the squad arrived in Belo Horizonte less than 24 hours before kickoff, something that is not allowed by CONMEBOL regulations. According to reports, they got in touch with the Confederation and informed them that they were having troubles leaving the country, and that they would be able to fly out of Venezuela late Tuesday night, arriving in Belo Horizonte early Wednesday morning. In other words, they will face Cruzeiro having spent the night before on a plane, not sleeping properly at hotel rooms.

Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara: Head to head Stats
No history between these two.
Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara: Prediction
I find it incredibly hard imagining Cruzeiro not winning this game. It’s not just the big gap in quality between the two teams, it’s also that Deportivo Lara’s players could hardly focus on this game this past week, troubled by all sorts of problems that have to do with what is happening in their country these days(…).
Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara: Betting Tips
Given that a simple Cruzeiro win pays less than 1.20, I would risk with “Cruzeiro and over 2.5 goals”, at 1.85.
