Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 28 March 2019
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
This game was initially scheduled to be played two weeks ago, but it had to get postponed because Deportivo Lara couldn’t travel. First, they asked CONMEBOL to allow them to arrive in Belo Horizonte the day of the match, knowing that according to the rules, all visiting teams (excluding those traveling to cities with… extreme altitude) have to be in the city where a game is held at least 24 hours earlier. CONMEBOL agreed, knowing that the situation in Venezuela those days (generally, but especially those days), was… “particular”. After all, Deportivo Lara couldn’t travel, and CONMEBOL decided to push the game two weeks later. Not much has changed at Cruzeiro; they were in good shape two weeks ago (they even beat Huracán in Buenos Aires, on their Copa Libertadores group stage debut), and they look… hot now, having won five games in a row (State championship and Libertadores combined), by a total score of 14-0(!). Actually, they have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last nine matches. Impressive.
In case you are wondering, “the Venezuelans did not manage to travel to Brazil two weeks ago. What about now?”, great (for everyone, including CONMEBOL) news is that Deportivo Lara arrived in Belo Horizonte Monday night. There are two “but”, though; they arrived in BH, but they had to fly from Caracas to Lima, Peru, spend a night there, then fly to Sao Paulo, and finally take a third flight to the Minas Gerais capital city. Second “but”, when they arrived in BH, they realized that there were bags missing (they just cannot catch a break). They were informed that they had gotten “stuck” in Sao Paulo, and would be sent to them “soon”. On Tuesday, they had to train with gear they borrowed from another club. Their last game was on Saturday, a 2-3 win at LALA (seriously, this is the name of a team in Venezuela), in a championship match. They sit 8th in the table, on 12 points from eight matches. They have two wins and three draws in their last five games, with one of those draws being that 0-0 at home three weeks ago, on their Copa Libertadores group stage debut.

If Cruzeiro fail to win this game, they should give their own self a fine equivalent to a month’s pay.
Cruzeiro vs Deportivo Lara: Betting Tips
Given that a simple Cruzeiro win is at 1.13, I would risk with the hosts’ victory combined with “over 2.5 goals”, at 1.80. I don’t expect them to… ridicule Deportivo Lara, quite honestly, I expect them to… feel sorry for their rivals, knowing the situation they’re in right now, because of Venezuela’s… reality these days, but I still expect the Brazilians to win comfortably, scoring three times.
