Cruzeiro vs Gremio
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 14 April 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Cruzeiro’s last game was on Sunday, a 2-0 home win over city rivals Atlético Mineiro, that earned them the title in the State championship of Minas Gerais. They had lost 3-1 in the first leg, and that away goal made the difference. They haven’t started their campaign in the Copa do Brasil yet, a competition they won last season. They have already played two Copa Libertadores group stage games, losing 4-2 at Racing Club, and drawing 0-0 at home to Vasco da Gama. Center-back Murilo is still recovering from a shoulder problem. Defensive midfielder Lucas Moreno and right winger Raniel are also dealing with injury problems and are unavailable. Newly-signed left-back Patrick Brey was still waiting for his papers to get ready two days before kick-off, and most probably will start being available next weekend. Cruzeiro finished fifth in last season’s Série A. Cruzeiro expect a big crowd at Mineirão, with the cheapest tickets costing less than 10 euros.
Left winger Everton said something interesting at a Press conference the other day, talking about Gremio’s strongest points. He said most of today’s team have been playing together for three years, which, by Brazilian standards, is a long-long time. Obviously, players have come and gone, but Everton is right, the base of the team has remained the same, and this definitely served them well last season, when they won the Copa Libertadores. They finished fourth in the Série A, but things would have been different if they didn’t have the pleasant Libertadores “distraction” until the last week of the season. Last weekend they won the State championship of Rio Grande do Sul beating Brasil de Pelotas 3-0 away from home (they had won the first leg as well, 4-0). In two Libertadores group stage matches thus far, they have four points, and are visiting leaders Cerro Porteño on Tuesday.

Cruzeiro vs Gremio: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Cruzeiro, one for Gremio, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Belo Horizonte. Excluding a crazy 3-3 draw a year ago, no other game had more than two goals.
Cruzeiro vs Gremio: Prediction
Both teams are playing Libertadores matches the coming week, both away from home. The difference is, Cruzeiro play on Thursday, while Gremio are facing Cerro Porteño on Tuesday. Because of that, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Gremio’s coach, Renato Gaúcho, rotates his team somewhat.
Cruzeiro vs Gremio: Betting Tips
Cruzeiro’s win is at 2.10, and that’s my main tip. Their double chance at 1.30 is good enough only to those who focus on low-low odds that have VERY good chances of coming good.
