Crystal Palace vs Middlesbrough
Competition: Premier League
Date: 25 February 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
Crystal Palace showed the smallest signs of rebuilding when they picked up a win under Sam Allardyce, who was meant to be the saving grace of Palace, but it has all fallen down again as they sit rooted in the relegation zone. The face a Middlesbrough side that may not be in the drop zone, but are also heading that direction.
Middlesbrough have been living off draws and frustrating teams in too low scoring encounters. Boro have found themselves slipping slowly down the log after being stuck in the lower half for so long. They are in 16th now, and only two points clear of the bottom three with Leicester keeping a buffer in between them. Boro have the odd record of claiming the most draws in the season thus far, with a total of 10 to go along with their four wins and 11 losses It has not been an impressive season from Middlesbrough, yet they continue to hold on and will want to try and make a win out of a struggling Palace side.
Palace seem to have almost cemented their place as a team that is bound to make the drop. They were a team on the slide when they were under Alan Pardew, but they were also a team that was scoring goals. However, in their last five games, which includes a 2-0 win over Bournemouth, they have scored just those two goals, meaning that in all of the four other losses, they have been beaten badly and obviously. Palace did win their first game under their new manager against Bournemouth, and their performance was markedly better, however, they proved that was a mere flash in the pan as their results after that have seen them lose two against Stoke, 1-0, and a massive loss 4-0 against Sunderland who are ranked below them.
Crystal Palace vs Middlesbrough: Head-to-Head Stats
Overall, in the history of this fixture, things are quite close and there is not too much to gleam from only five games. Palace have three wins and Boro the other two, while there has not been a draw, which is interesting. When they met earlier in the season it was Palace who won that one away from home – 2-1.
Crystal Palace vs Middlesbrough: Prediction
It is interesting that there has not been a draw as these teams look like the draw is the most obvious result for this game. Boro are the masters of a draw, and Palace are not scoring any goals. Perhaps it could be a dull as a 0-0 draw which will help no one.
Crystal Palace vs Middlesbrough: Tips
Bet on this being a drab game, no result, no goals. These teams are really not offering much at the moment.
