CSKA Moscow vs Khimki Moscow
Competition: Turkish Airlines Euroleague
Date: 17 April 2018
Time: 19:00 CET
It is now time for the Euroleague playoffs, as CSKA Moscow will look to bring their form from the regular season to the post-season. The Russian giants easily finished at the top of the Euroleague (W24 L6), featuring the best offense with 89.16 points per match, but just the 6th best defense with 79.23 conceded. They were terrific at home throughout the whole season, where they only lost a single match, against Fnerbahce in the overtime by 93:95. CSKA Moscow were also really scary offensively at home, scoring a whopping 91.73 points per match, while allowing 78.8 in the process. They have also been excellent overall at home this season, and have won each of their last 11 home matches in all competitions. They will come into this match with just a couple of injury concerns, as Kulagin, Korobkov and Hines have all been ruled out.
On the other hand, Khimki Moscow were doing a pretty solid job throughout the whole season, but they were really bad in their last few matches. They actually lost each of their last three matches of the regular season, and as a result, they dropped to the 8th spot of the league table (W16 L14) and were matched against Russian rivals CSKA Moscow. Khimki Moscow were did not score an awful lot of points in their matches this seasn (77.93 on average), while conceding 78.4 in the process. They managed to remain quite competitive on the road throughout the whole season (W7 L8), where they slightly increased their scoring to 78.66 points per match, but they also conceded a lot more points (81.00 on average). In any case, Khimki Moscow are in some really deep trouble right now, as they are most likely going to bow out after the matches with CSKA Moscow. To make matters worse, they will be coming into this match with a few injury concerns, as Anderson and Sokolov are listed as unavailable, while Honeycutt and Zubkov are doubtful.

CSKA Moscow vs Khimki Moscow: Head to Head Stats
CSKA Moscow have dominated Khimki Moscow in recent years, having not lost since 2015, counting 14 consecutive wins in all competitions. That includes both league matches this season, and both matches for the Euroleague as well. CSKA Moscow won by 79:68 in this venue in late December for the Euroleague, and had a much easier work in the 90:71 for the VTB in February.
CSKA Moscow vs Khimki Moscow: Prediction
CSKA Moscow are without a doubt the big favorites to win not only this match-up, but also the entire competition. They have already destroyed Khimki Moscow twice in this venue this season, and if Khimki come here with these four absences, it will be really hard for them to be competitive.
CSKA Moscow vs Khimki Moscow: Betting Tips
CSKA Moscow clearly have the upper hand in this match-up, and anything other than a home win would be a massive upset. I will reluctantly go with the -10.5 points for the home team here @ 1.75, but the two teams play again in just two days after this match. For what it’s worth, CSKA Moscow have covered this handicap in each of the four wins against Khimki Moscow earlier in the season.
