CSKA Moscow vs Young Boys
Competition: UEFA Champions League Playoffs
Date: 23 August 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
A week ago I backed CSKA Moscow to earn at least a draw in Switzerland. I also suggested ‘over 2.5 goals’, seeing how both teams had been producing high-score games for weeks. CSKA ended up winning 1-0, in a game that could have ended… 2-2, or even more. It’s actually ironic how a game that had more than 20 attempts, a good part of those on goal, was finally decided by an unbelievable own goal in added time, one of those… jokes football can play on teams. On Saturday, CSKA Moscow drew 0-0 at Ural, and now have 13 points in seven matches in Russia’s Premier League, sitting fourth in the table.
Given how the whole 90 minutes went last week, Young Boys have every reason to feel that they didn’t deserve to lose. The fact that they lost because of a crazy own goal in added time, must have left them even more gutted. On Saturday, at Zürich, they earned a goalless draw, and now have 10 points in five matches in Swiss Super League, second in the table, behind leaders Zürich, the team they drew against away from home last weekend. It will not exactly be a miracle if Young Boys win and qualify, but it will definitely be a major league surprise.

CSKA Moscow vs Young Boys: Predictions Betting Tips
Despite having my ‘over 2.5 goals’ prediction going wrong last week, having seen how that game went, and knowing that Young Boys need to attack as early as possible to score the goal they absolutely need, I repeat the same ‘over 2.5 goals’ prediction, and actually I’m taking it a step further.
CSKA Moscow vs Young Boys: Betting Tips
‘Over 2.5 goals’ pays 1.72, which goes even higher if you combine it with ‘both teams to score’. Pushing it, I would risk with ‘over 3.5 goals’, at 2.75 betting odds, really expecting the game to have lots of goals, despite how wasteful both teams looked last week, and also despite drawing 0-0 during the weekend in their domestic matches (playing with some reserves, though, both of them). I don’t expect any clean sheets this time.
The winner of this tie will qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage while the loser will continue in the UEFA Europa League.
