Defensa y Justicia vs San Lorenzo
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 26 January 2019
Kick-off: 01:10 CET
Last weekend, I tipped Defensa y Justicia to leave Monumental undefeated, expecting their game against River Plate to have no more than two goals. The Florencio Varela side did even better than what I did down expected, and left Núñez with all three points, winning 0-1. Truth is, they didn’t play their best game offensively, but… it sort of made sense; they took the lead in the 24th minute thanks to a Matías Rojas goal, and after that they focused on their defense. They suffered in the last 20 minutes of the first half, but interestingly, River… looked super uninspired in the second part, and Defensa protected that narrow lead until the final whistle. They are now just three points behind leaders Racing Club.
San Lorenzo obviously wanted all three points last weekend when they hosted Huracán in one of Buenos Aires’ derbies, but given that they played with a man less for more than an hour, they have to be satisfied with that point they earned. In the 33rd minute, fans at Nuevo Gasómetro were left impressed by a fancy-looking Fabrizio Coloccini effort. What the referee saw, was a direct red card for the veteran defender, for stepping on an opponent. Both San Lorenzo and Huracán missed glorious chances to score, and that 0-0 is definitely not representative of how the game went. San Lorenzo didn’t win, but they definitely left good impressions. They need points, though; they are just 22nd in the table, on 14 points from 15 matches.

San Lorenzo visited Defensa three times between September 2014 and September 2016, and beat them all three, scoring two or three goals per match.
Defensa y Justicia vs San Lorenzo: Prediction
Defensa are considered rather clear favorites to win the game. I’ve been praising them since the start of the season, I backed them to do well against River as well, last weekend, but this time, in this specific game, I’d put my money on San Lorenzo to earn at least one point.
Defensa y Justicia vs San Lorenzo: Betting Tips
San Lorenzo’s double chance is at 1.96, higher than Defensa’s win. For more that 1.96, I would combine the visitors’ double chance with “under 2.5 goals.
