Defensa y Justicia vs Velez Sarsfield
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 5 November 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
What a game Defensa y Justicia played on Thursday, what a night that was for the modest Florencio Varela club, and what a massive disappointment it was to finish the game getting eliminated by Junior in the Copa Sudamericana… They “hosted” the Colombian side at Independiente’s stadium, in Avellaneda, which had thousands of Defensa fans on the stands (and about a hundred Colombians). Becaccece’s team did almost everything perfectly, they scored three goals in the first half, saw the third one annulled for a foul at the very-very start of their attack, kept pushing in the second half, scored a third one that counted, and at 3-0, they were qualifying after losing 2-0 in Colombia in the first leg. Junior got one goal back, and despite the fact that Defensa never stopped trying and creating chances, the score didn’t change. 3-1, big victory, big night, but, I repeat, massive disappointment. It’s worth mentioning that the thousands of Defensa fans who put up with strong cold (the game started at 21:45 and finished after 23:30), spent minutes applauding the players and the coach after the final whistle, acknowledging that they had really done their best to earn the team a spot in the semifinals. In the Superliga, Defensa, believe it or not, is the only team remaining undefeated. They are on 18 points, with games in hand, and actually, once they’ve played as many games as leaders Racing Club, they may be leading(!) in the table.
“One of the best teams in the country”. That’s how Gabriel Heinze, Vélez Sarsfield’s coach, described Defensa y Justicia, showing his respect. The Liniers side are on 17 points, one behind Defensa, but they haven played two matches more than them. Last weekend they beat Belgrano 1-0 at home, continuing with their awesome run as hosts. Away from home, things have been tough for them; one point from four matches. Heinze was asked in a Press conference before this game if he “owes” something, because Vélez haven’t won yet away from home, and he joked, saying that he only “owes” to a bank, for a mortgage he has taken to buy a house. Right-back Gastón Díaz is out, injured. He’ll stay out for at least two weeks.

Two wins for Vélez in Florencio Varela in as many games there, the last four years.
Defensa y Justicia vs Velez Sarsfield: Prediction
Super interesting game. I have to back the hosts to win, not only because they have looked awesome since the start of the season, but also because Vélez have… serious issues away from home.
Defensa y Justicia vs Velez Sarsfield: Betting Tips
Defensa’s victory pays 2.10. I consider it good enough to avoid risking further with number of goals or their clean sheet.
