Deportivo Capiata vs Sol de America
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 14 October 2018
Kick-off: 01:15 CET
Deportivo Capiatá may be fourth in the Clausura table (after finishing second-to-last in the Apertura), but the board of directors feel they should be doing better, and according to reports, they are ready to fire coach Diego Gavilán if they don’t beat Sol de América. Right now, Capiatá are at the very edge between the spots that give a Copa Sudamericana ticket or not. They started the Clausura aiming at avoiding relegation, but with that target already met, they have raised the bar. Too much? The board of directors feel that with the money they spend to sign Santiago Salcedo, Rodrigo Burgos, and Joel Silva, they should have more than 18 points from 13 matches in the Clausura. Last weekend they lost 3-0 at Libertad, falling fourth from third in the Clausura table.
Adrián Martínez’s goal in the 18th minute proved enough for Sol de América to beat Sportivo Luqueño at home last weekend. They had lost their previous two Clausura matches on the road, to General Díaz and Deportivo Santaní. Sol have big-big chances of playing Copa Sudamericana football next season. For more than that (Copa Libertadores qualifiers), they need a small miracle. Ever Almeida told reporters he was left very satisfied with his players last weekend, and seemed willing to start with the same 11, even though he may need to make do without goalkeeper Gerardo Ortiz, who spent the last days practicing with Paraguay’s national team. If he’s not available, after all, Rubén Escobar will take his place.

Deportivo Capiata vs Sol de America: Prediction
Capiatá drew 1-1 with Guaraní in their last home game, but before that, they had four wins in a row, scoring two or three goals in each match. Sol on the other hand, have lost four of their last five away games in the championship. I’m backing Deportivo to pick up all three points.
