Deportivo Capiata vs Sol de America
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 21 May 2018
Kick-off: 23:30 CET
It feels like Deportivo Capiatá’s coach, Gustavo Florentín, has had enough with several players of his. The team have picked up just one point from their last four games, and especially that 3-0 defeat at 3 de Febrero last weekend was… too hard to swallow. Talking to reporters midweek, Florentín said that there will be “many” changes in the starting lineup. Right-back Pablo Céspedes and midfielder Kevin Pereira are two of those who are expected to start, new faces, guys on whom Florentín hopes to find players he can count on, in the second half of the season. The Apertura has been an utter failure, but Capiatá will have their chance to bounce back in the Clausura, starting right after the World Cup finals.
After losing four games in a row, Sol de América now have four points from their last two matches, both against top 4 teams. They drew 3-3 to Libertad, and last Thursday they beat Nacional 1-0, pretty much putting an end to Nacional’s dream of closing the gap on leaders Olimpia. Sol are 5th in the Apertura table, still in with a chance of finishing higher, but regardless, every single point they earn in the remainder of the Apertura, is an… investment. Paraguay have four tickets for the Copa Libertadores, two go to the winners of the Apertura and the Clausura, and the other two go to the two best teams that didn’t win one of the two tournaments. That’s Sol’s big target, and the more points they pick up until the end of the Apertura, the more chances they’ll have to meet it.
