Deportivo Capiata vs Sportivo Luqueno
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 9 February 2018
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
Deportivo Capiatá were outsiders last weekend at General Díaz, and in the first 30 minutes you could see why. They were merely watching the hosts create one chance after another, and were a bit lucky not to concede. Before the first half was over though, they had taken control(!), missed their own chances, and they continued like that early in the second half. Ironically, it was a General Díaz player who… scored for them, Julio González, sending the ball into his own net in the 62nd minute. That was the last time Deportivo Capiatá visited their opponents’ box. They chose to focus on their defence, and they paid for that, sort of. They got equalized seconds before the 90-minute mark. At the end, they did get a point, but if they hadn’t given up on scoring a second goal, they could have left Asunción with all three.
Sportivo Luqueño were left gutted last weekend, getting equalised twice by Libertad at home, the second time in the dying seconds of the match. The Luque side were incomparably better than their opponents, they created more chances to score, looked better prepared, they gave you the impression they knew exactly what they had to do, where to be, where to move, they scored twice, missed great chances to score more, and… as it often happens in football, they got punished late, very late, paying for a lack of concentration in marking a Libertad player inside their box. Before the match started, my guess is that a draw didn’t look like a bad-bad result to their fans. Given how the game went though, that 2-2 felt almost like a defeat, like two points wasted.

Two wins for Deportivo Capiatá, two for Sportivo Luqueño, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Capiatá. Two of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Deportivo Capiata vs Sportivo Luqueno: Prediction
Sportivo Luqueño have a Copa Sudamericana game coming up, against Deportivo Cuenca from Ecuador, but first, the game is at home, and second, it’s in four days, enough time for any player to recover, so deep down I don’t expect their coach to rotate heavily. Make some changes, possibly; rotate heavily, no. They are outsiders in this match, but I’m backing them to earn at least a draw.
Deportivo Capiata vs Sportivo Luqueno: Betting Tips
Sportivo Luqueño’s double chance pays 1.57. Their win in “draw no bet”is at 2.10 betting odds. Other than that, I expect goals, at least three. “Over 2.5” is at 1.89, a… middle solution between Sportivo Luqueño’s double chance and their win in “draw no bet”.
