Deportivo Santani vs Libertad
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 23 September 2018
Kick-off: 02:00 CET
Deportivo Santaní remain second-to-last in the “promedio” table, meaning that they are “favorites” to get relegated, they and 3 de Febrero, who look… doomed. Last weekend, the San Estanislao side lost 1-0 at Guaraní, conceding late in the game. They had back-to-back draws before that, one was at Cerro Porteño(!), but… Coach Hector Marecos expressed his satisfaction right before this game, seeing all his players be at his disposal, for the first time since he took charge. Santaní’s mission to avoid relegation remains “tough”, to write the least, but a triumph over Libertad may prove a major turning point. Their next two games are against Sol (again at home), and at 3 de Febrero. This is when they must… step on it, and they know it.
Libertad were desperate to bounce back last weekend hosting General Díaz, they had gotten eliminated in the Copa Libertadores, they had drawn at home with 3 de Febrero(!), they had lost to Olimpia, and no matter how poor their performance was last weekend, they got the job done; 1-0 win, three points, sitting fourth in the table, on 15 from 10 matches. As I’ve written before, right now, it’s a bit… “tasteless” being a Libertad fan, in the sense that their team is not really challenging for the title, basically they just need to… control the situation in the Clausura, to earn themselves the absolute minimum, a Copa Libertadores ticket. Against General Díaz, the players looked… not exactly indifferent, but definitely lacked that extra motivation to do things. Iván Franco’s beautiful goal was one of the super few good moments in the match.

Deportivo Santani vs Libertad: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Libertad and a draw, in the three games between these two in the past, in San Estanislao.
Deportivo Santani vs Libertad: Prediction
Santaní have scored one goal in their last five matches. I find it almost… impossible to back them to win any game, let alone this one against Libertad. The hosts are the ones with the biggest motive here, but… I just can’t trust them.
Deportivo Santani vs Libertad: Betting Tips
Libertad’s win is at 1.83. I expect them to score at least half a goal more, and leave San Estanislao with all three points. If I left winners and losers aside, I would bet on “under 2.5 goals”, at 1.85.
