Deportivo Santani vs Once Caldas
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 8 February 2019
Kick-off: 00:30 CET
Deportivo Santaní spent most of last season in Paraguay struggling to remain above the relegation line. At the end, not only they avoided going down, but they also earned a Copa Sudamericana ticket, finishing 7th in the “tabla acumulada”, the same one in which they were either 10th or 11th (in other words, either right above or right below the relegation line) most of the season. No less than 11(!) players arrived at the club these last weeks. Coach Héctor Marecos was given practically a whole new team to work with. Three games into the new season, they are on two points, having drawn twice at home, and lost the only match they’ve played on the road. Detail: this game is not held in San Estanislao, as Santaní’s stadium cannot host international matches. They had to “move” to Asunción for this game, and play at Defensores del Chaco. The club offered free buses to fans who bought their tickets in San Estanislao.
Once Caldas had a… great informant among them, preparing for the two games against Deportivo Santaní. Paraguayan goalkeeper Gerardo Ortiz moved to Manizales last month, coming from Sol de América, with whom he faced Santaní four times last year. Ortiz is just one of several players who moved to Once Caldas last month. The Manizales club spent decent money to strengthen the squad, making it clear that their target this season is to fight for the championship in Colombia, and reach at least the third round of the Copa Sudamericana. On Sunday they beat Deportivo Pasto 1-2 away from home, playing with several reserves, as coach Hubert Bodhert chose to rest/protect certain regulars. Once Caldas are on seven points from three matches in Colombia’s championship, having two wins in a row now, after drawing 0-0 at Atlético Nacional on their debut.

Deportivo Santani vs Once Caldas: Betting Tips
Once Caldas’ win is at 2.63, my main tip. A more conservative approach would be betting on their double chance combined with “over 1.5” (2.25).
