Edinburgh vs Treviso
Competition: Guinness Pro14
Date: 15 September 2017
Kick off: 20:35 CET
The Scottish side Edinburgh have gotten off to a remarkable start having won their first two games, one with a bonus point, and as they prepare to take on the weak Treviso side at home, they will feel they can make it three from three.
Edinburgh are not a team often associated with being in the upper half of the table, and it is still very new in the season, but they promised a lot before it all kicked off and look like they could be delivering. The Scots have always been a team that has dwindled near the bottom, losing the big games and often losing game they shouldn’t in the smaller encounters, but they have now beat the Dragons, as well as the Cardiff Blues, and have done so in a good fashion. First it was the Blues who look to be their usual inconsistent selves, but Edinburgh travelled to Cardiff and downed them 20-10. Next up was the Dragons, at home and that was an even better performance as the points rained down in a 35-18 hammering of a second Welsh side.
For Treviso, it looks like it is just going to be another season of sadly going through the motions hoping for the odd win here and there, and then to try and be above Zebre at the end – although the South African teams also looking to be fighting for the wooden spoon. For Treviso, their opening rounds have ended in defeats against two tough teams in the Irish provinces of Ulster and Munster. To be fair to them, at home against Ulster, they were far better as they picked up a bonus point in a low scoring 14-21 defeat. It was against Munster that they looked out of sorts as the powerhouse Irish side took them apart 34-3, denying any try scoring. Treviso now have to travel to Scotland to face an Edinburgh side that is well coached and on a high with momentum.
Munster vs Treviso 34-3
Treviso vs Ulster 14-21
Cardiff Blues vs Edinburgh 10-20
Edinburgh vs Dragons 35-18
Edinburgh vs Treviso: Head to Head Stats
This is a pretty good fixture for Treviso in recent history, they don’t have many teams that they beat often but in the most recent eight games it has been four wins for each side. Treviso even won the last game, by 15 points, but the three games before that were massive wins for Edinburgh.
Edinburgh vs Treviso: Prediction
There may feel like there is some hope for Treviso in this game, looking at the recent past and how well they have done against Edinburgh, but this is a different year and this is a much better Edinburgh side as they boast Richard Cockerill at the helm. Edinburgh will easily make it three wins from three after this game.
